INFORMATION CHALLENGES

Information is everywhere. Organisations that invest in creating and capturing data want to integrate it, aggregate it and share it with employees, partners and stakeholders, however they face significant challenges:

• how to store it securely
• how to ensure it is used responsibly
• and how to share it with people and organisations with a right or need to use it

Commercial interests, legislation, and duties of care give rise to information that is difficult to share. Organisations have obligations to respect the privacy of individuals and in some instances protect national interest or perhaps create an environment that secures intellectual property and competitive advantage. Information owners must work very hard to be confident that the people who need to know the information are those that are allowed to use the information.
