MONITORING USER ACTIVITY
Pherret is a web based application, which allows organisations to monitor and evaluate user activity. It addresses some of the issues related to auditing events in environments that support information sharing and collaborative working.
The interface has been designed to assist with typical patterns of enquiry related to systems access and user sessions such as:
- Who accessed what systems?
- Who has been trying to access systems?
- Who viewed what information?
- Who edited documents?
- Who tried to find what information?
FEATURES
Pherret can be configured to accept information originating from a variety of logs, recording system activity and user interaction. The underlying repository stores a record of each event captured by the system. Event activity relating to Active Directory and LDAP communities could also be logged. Typical events could include:
- Login (success and failure)
- Search requests
- Document views and updates
In support of interoperability, and to allow information to be used in other contexts, records are tagged and stored efficiently in XML format in a native XML database.
